Helden Aerospace has been providing consulting services since 2010. We have largely relied upon word of mouth and repeat business and would like to support your project with experienced, cost-effective, time-sensitive aerodynamics expertise. Moreover, we have an ever-expanding network of other experts in complementary fields (e.g., CAD, conceptual design) that we can bring in to support your project. Our focus has been on aerodynamics of airplanes and rockets however we support all industries that rely upon aerodynamics (e.g., automotive).
We have very competitive hourly and task rates, and we leverage our experience and software solutions to provide the shortest time-to-solution to minimize your costs. As mentioned before, we rely upon word of mouth and repeat business.
Services
Our experience has been focused on aerodynamic outer-mold-line design, optimization, and study of government and commercial aircraft including their high-lift (e.g., distributed propulsion) and drag-suppression technologies (e.g., winglets, microvanes). We routinely provide, but are not limited to, the following services:
- aerodynamic shape optimization (e.g., maximizing L/D)
- we leverage the knowledge-based CDISC and our own internal HeldenDesign workflow and tools which enables drag-based optimization targets
- propulsion-airframe integration studies and optimization
- wind tunnel and flight test planning/execution
- CFD results from steady and unsteady RANS, DES simulations on our own HPC platforms
- we leverage NASA LaRC USM3D with our own custom boundary conditions and enhancements
- documentation, training materials, and hands-on workshops tailored to your needs
- we have developed training materials for reference and a hands-on workshop for HeldenMesh Suite
- we have provided quotes for documentation efforts ranging from best practices for mesh generation to how to maintain and setup a HPC system
Why Hire a Consultant?
Maintaining CFD expertise in a company is quite costly. In addition to the direct cost of the engineer(s), there are indirect costs associated with software (e.g., mesh generation application, post processing tools, flow solvers), hardware (e.g., HPC platforms, cloud services), and IT infrastructure (e.g., system administrators, platform designers, networking). Helden's Leadership has the expertise to size, maintain, and host its own HPC platforms (which keeps our rates low) and Helden has its own mesh generation software stack called HeldenMesh Suite (which keeps our rates low, too, since it's one less license we need).
Moreover, if your company needs to do something new, then there are ramp-up costs associated with learning/acquiring new tools, processes, and methodologies. Helden's customer base has provided consistently diverse projects from which we have continually gained knowledge from that can be applied immediately to your project. For example, we have developed specialized flow solver boundary conditions specifically for cases when there were new technologies being modeled that required it.
When you work with us, you automatically get all of the benefits of our experience, developed and licensed software, and HPC platforms at a fraction of their cost should you cultivate them yourself.
